Visiting 2002 Fests on back-to-back months... After my treck in May up to Carlisle, PA for John Weese's Mid-Atlantik 02 Fest last month, in June on Friday the 14th, my wife Mary and I (in the E34) and Bo Black in his spectacular 74tii headed north to South Bend to see how Chris Burd and the Michiana Chapter do a 2002 Fest. The weather was lousy late Friday but by Saturday morning there was hardly a cloud in the sky. The temperature was an awesome 75-80 degrees and there was a nice breeze too. At the peak, 43 cars showed up in the parking lot of the Tire Rack, which by the way is an awesome place. They even have their own autocross track on the premises (note the photo below of the cars, the track is behind them) for such an event!
One by one they trickled into the parking lot.
Bo Black's car, featured on the cover of the 2002 Haus Ultimate Calendar in the foreground.
In the afternoon, the cars all 43 2002's lined up for a photo shoot. Everyone stopped to admire the site!
Mr. 02 Cents worth himself, Mike Self arrived driving his Nevada painted 1972 "Wolfgang"
The amazing '67 1600 with less than 20,000 miles featured in the Roundel this year. What a history piece!
We headed back for KC and Arkansas around 5 for our 600+ mile ride, just before the rain hit!
Bo's 74 tii won the most favorite square light car, the Golf 72 tii below from Wisconsin won the best roundie.
A big howdy to all of you that we met for the first time. Always great to put a face with a handle/email !!
